The BYD Seal comes in three variants: Dynamic, Premium, and Performance. Each variant offers a different combination of battery pack size, driving range, and motor power. The base Dynamic trim boasts a range of 510 km and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.9 seconds. The Premium trim ups the range to 650 km, while the top-of-the-line Performance variant boasts a staggering 580 km range and a thrilling 3.8-second 0-100 km/h acceleration time.

Enhanced safety
The raw material, lithium iron phosphate, has a number of advantageous properties, including slow heat generation, low heat release, and no oxygen release. The unique flat rectangle shape also enhances cooling and preheating performance. Blade Battery safely passed the nail penetration test without causing fire or smoke.
Nail penetration test
The nail penetration test is widely regarded as one of the most rigorous methods for testing battery thermal runaway. The goal is to simulate an internal short circuit in the battery. This is typically caused by external sharp metal objects penetrating the battery during a severe traffic accident. The Blade Battery passed the nail penetration test without producing smoke or fire. The surface temperature only reached 30 to 60 degrees Celsius.
Optimised strength
Each cell, when arranged in an array in a single pack, acts as a structural beam to help withstand force. The aluminum honeycomb-like structure, with high-strength panels on the upper and lower sides of the pack, significantly improves vertical rigidity. This revolutionary design gives the Blade Battery optimal strength.

The Blade Battery’s space utilisation has increased by more than 50% when compared to traditional battery packs, resulting in higher energy density and longer range.

BYD has positioned the Seal competitively in the Indian market. The starting price for the Dynamic trim is Rs 41 lakh, making it a compelling option for budget-conscious buyers. The Premium and Performance variants are priced at Rs 45.55 lakh and Rs 53 lakh respectively, offering excellent value for their features and performance.
To further incentivize early adopters, BYD is offering a free 7 kW home charger with installation, a 3 kW portable charger, and other benefits to customers who book the Seal before March 31, 2024.
