From City Streets to Mountain Peaks: The Versatile Appeal of the 2024 Honda NX500

Introduced in 2013 alongside the fully faired CBR500R and the naked CB500F (now CB500 Hornet), the CB500X gave Honda’s fun-focused twin-cylinder “light middleweight” trio a crossover adventure twist.
Table of Contents
From the beginning, it was a motorcycle that quietly and incredibly competently carried out its duty of being versatile enough to suit a wide range of riders.
A lively, well-respected twin-cylinder engine that generated genuine torque and drive from low rpm while revving hard up top, combined with a chassis that provided an incredibly comfortable ride both in town and on the open road, all wrapped up in unique adventure styling, was the simple formula for the vehicle’s usefulness.

It transitioned smoothly from weekend tourer to short-hop commuter. The rider’s comfort and field of vision were enhanced by the upright riding position, wide handlebars for leverage, and long travel suspension that smoothed out uneven road surfaces.
A first upgrade in 2016 included a taller screen, more wind protection, a larger fuel tank, LED lighting, adjustable front forks with spring preload, and an adjustable brake lever. More sophisticated adventure style, increased engine performance, and several chassis upgrades were all delivered by the 2019 year model evolution. 2022 model saw the addition of a redesigned front wheel, lightweight swingarm, dual front discs, and top-notch Showa 41mm SFF-BP USD forks.
Honda’s formula for this bike is getting better for 2024, but it stays the same overall. Still, the name is new. With aggressively redesigned styling, high-end technology, and numerous detail upgrades, the NX500 is forging its own unique identity and will no doubt continue to win over riders in Europe.
2024 Honda NX500 Model Overview
Honda has a long history with the letters NX, and the single-cylinder NX650 Dominator, which made its debut in the late 1980s and had a distinctive blend of off-road and road style, is still warmly recalled throughout Europe.

2024 Honda NX500 is exactly what NX stands for, “New X-over.” Its impressive update to its adventure styling further solidifies its all-around credentials: fun on a winding road, fun on a gravel trail, and ready to last the distance. To enhance ride quality, the front and rear suspension settings have been adjusted, and the wheels have also been made lighter.
Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) is added to the A2-compliant twin-cylinder engine with a slipper clutch, and ECU updates are made to enhance acceleration.
The following color options will be offered for the 2024 Honda NX500:
Grand Prix Red
Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic
Pearl Horizon White
Engine
2024 Honda NX500 With an enthusiastic, high-revving personality and a zappy top end, the A2-licence friendly 471cc, 8-valve liquid-cooled parallel twin-cylinder layout offers a well-proportioned balance of physical size and willing, enjoyable power output. Furthermore, the engine exhibits overall performance and character that belies its relatively small capacity; at 8,600 rpm, it reaches its peak power of 35 kW, while at 6,500 rpm, it delivers 43 Nm of torque.

To manage rear wheel traction and provide greater peace of mind, HSTC was added 24 months ago. This has significantly increased rider confidence. In order to identify rear slip, the system measures the speeds of the front and rear wheels. It then regulates fuel injection to gradually decrease torque. The rider also has the option to completely disable HSTC.
Airflow through the airbox and throttle bodies is fed directly into the PGM-FI fuel injection system in 2024 Honda NX500. More forceful acceleration from low rpm, linear power delivery, and throttle feel result from optimizing ignition timing and air/fuel ratio. The dual exit pipes on the exhaust muffler give each pulse a sporty edge and produce a high-rpm howl that is raspy.
In 2024 Honda NX500 The crankshaft pins are phased at 180°, the bore and stroke are set at 67mm x 66.8mm, and the compression ratio is 10.7:1. A primary couple-balancer is located behind the cylinders, near the center of gravity of the bike. Scissor gears are used in the main and balancer gears to minimize noise. Because of its light weight and specially designed couple-balance shape, the crank counterweight permits the engine to spin freely with reduced inertia.
Four frame hangers, acting as a stressed member, allow the engine to counterbalance the rigidity of the frame. Roller rocker arms are used internally in the cylinder head; they can be made light for less friction and a lower valve-spring load through shim-type valve adjustment.
2024 Honda NX500 Vanadium is applied to the pin surfaces of silent (SV Chain) cam chains to lower friction and improve wear resistance. The diameter of the exhaust valve is 21.5mm, and the inlet valve is 26.0mm. To lessen piston “noise” at high rpm, the piston shape is carefully engineered. Striations on the piston skirt—a surface treatment that increases surface area and creates gaps where oil can flow for improved lubrication—reduce friction.
The crankcases utilize centrifugally cast thin-walled sleeves and the efficient “triangle” proportion of the crankshaft, main shaft, and countershaft. Their internal design minimizes the “pumping” losses that may arise from a 180° phased firing order. With a 3.2L oil capacity, a deep sump minimizes oil movement during hard braking and cornering.
An assist/slipper clutch controls a smooth-shifting six-speed gearbox, which prevents rear wheel “hop” during hard braking and downshifting in 2024 Honda NX500
Styling & Equipment
While maintaining beam penetration, a new LED headlight design distributes light more widely, improving visibility for nighttime riding and cornering.

The new LED taillight is matched with it. All other lights are LED as well in 2024 Honda NX500

In 2024 Honda NX500 Optical bonding is used by premium technology, which includes a brand-new 5-inch full-color TFT screen derived from the XL750 Transalp, to enhance visibility in direct sunlight—a first for a Honda motorcycle. Reducing glare and improving backlight transmittance are achieved by using resin to seal the space between the cover glass and TFT screen. Along with providing IOS/Android smartphone connectivity and customizable Bar, Circle, and Simple display patterns, it also has Honda RoadSync functionality.

Together with a streamlined, user-friendly, backlit 4-way toggle switch on the left handlebar, this new feature enables simple, on-screen turn-by-turn navigation and the ability for the rider to make calls or listen to music via a Bluetooth helmet headset. To use the Honda RoadSync app, simply download it from the Play Store or the App Store, connect it to the 2024 Honda NX500, and get going.
In 2024 Honda NX500 A narrow seat profile facilitates easy movement around the machine and facilitates a low center of gravity. Additionally, the steering angle is 38° from center to full lock to enhance maneuverability.
A steel handlebar with a gunmetal grey taper elevates control even more. The upright riding position offers excellent visibility and is highly accommodating, with a seat height of 830mm. The overall measurements are 1,415 x 830 x 2,165 mm, with a ground clearance of 180 mm.

With the engine’s exceptional fuel efficiency of 3.6L/100km (27.8km/l) in WMTC mode and a fuel tank capacity of 17.5L, including reserve, the vehicle has a range of over 480km.
Chassis
The 35mm diameter steel diamond-tube mainframe is light, robust, and hasn’t changed in 24 years. Its tuned degree of yield provides the rider with plenty of feedback when the road surface changes. In 2024 Honda NX500 Vibration is reduced by the engine mounts’ location and design as well as the rigidity balance of the frame.

With a front/rear bias percentage of 48.7/51.3 and a rake and trail of 27.5°/108mm, the wheelbase measures 1,445mm. 196 kg is the curb weight, which is 3 kg less than the CB500X.
Display a 41mm Independent Function Fork Reaction and ride quality are the main draws of Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks, which split the functions into two legs: a spring mechanism in one and a Big Piston pressure separation damper in the other. To enhance response and feel for both road and off-road riding, they have new spring rate and damping settings, as well as 135mm axle travel (150mm cushion stroke).
With a large-diameter piston that ensures excellent temperature management and five stages of preload adjustment, the single-tube shock absorber boasts new settings to match the front. Its 135mm axle travel and 60mm cushion stroke also include preload adjustment. The swingarm is made of 2mm steel and has a hollow cross member that improves handling by being flexible laterally but stiff rotationally.
The cast aluminium wheels are brand-new. 800g are saved up front and 700g down the back when switching from a traditional Y-shaped 7-spoke design to Y-shaped 5-spokes. In conjunction with the updated suspension settings, this decrease in unsprung weight enhances handling and feel under all circumstances. The 17-inch rear and 19-inch front wheels are matched, and the trail-pattern tires have sizes of 160/60-R17 and 110/80-R19.

Nissin axial mount, two-piston calipers operate the dual 296mm front discs, while a single-piston caliper operates the 240mm rear disc.
